While Garden City is a small neighborhood in Cairo, it has been at the grandstand of Egypt's political powers since the turn of the 19th century. The film takes us on a journey through abandoned villas, luxurious salons, foreign embassies, threatened businesses and rooftop living rooms. Houses become witnesses as they make flesh of history's turmoil. While the residents departed, their memories live on by telling a story of patience, faith and hope. For a moment, a glimpse of truth can be seen – far from political correctness and all stereotypes. An allegory of contemporary Egypt, the film challenges us to reflect on the obsessions of our world today.
