Doors. Lualdi Stories

This is the story of a family’s intertwined stories and how their first artistic carpentry studio, which opened in 1860, has turned into an international company – Lualdi – the protagonist of Italian design known for its doors and partition systems. In the 60’s, Lualdi experimented with and made doors and windows for the upper-middle-class families of Milan. From the heart of the company in the 80’s, Milan, Lualdi opened up to the world to initiate a continuous internationalization process, thanks to architects Carl Magnusson, design director of Knoll, and Emanuela Frattini. The designers Steve Leung, Andrea Boschetti from Metrogramma, Marco Piva, Piero Lissoni, Andrea Destefanis and Filippo Gabbiani from Kokai Studio and Philippe Starck talk about door design today and its future.
